The book Counting by Sevens by Holly Goldbbourgh Swan
it’s a fictional story about a 12 year old adopted girl who is a genius. Her
parents have died in a car cash two mouths before the main part of the story
begins.
The main character
in Counting by Sevens is a girl named
Willow Chance. Willows life took a hard unexpected turn when her parents died
in a terrible
car crash. She now lives
in Hagen Oakes with her friends Mai, her brother Quang-ha and their
mother Pattie. She is now under the guidance of a councilor, at a new school
and her only friends in life are her new family.
The main conflict in this story is Willow her self, well her mind in
particular. She is always thinking that her friend’s ideas are not right and Dell
the guidance councilor is not right for his job. This is mainly because she is
a genius and is ahead of most of the people in her life. She has also never
really interacted with other people before. Also another conflict in this book
that is that Willow has now lived with Pattie for a couple months and has
settled in but Pattie was suppose to only be a “temporary” home, but now Willow
is having to go move into a new family so she starts running away anytime they
go to the adoption center.
Holly
Goldbbourgh Swan was very successful in presenting the central idea of this story.
The central idea was not ery clear but yet still captivated me. I thought that
she had a great idea. I found this story really creative and nothing like I had
ever read before. Although I did not think that this book was very powerful nor
memorable it was still a very interesting. Also this book made me think a lot
about how I would feel and what I would do differently if I were in Willows
situation.
Counting by Sevens was an amazing book it was
very interesting and the always changing plot made me want to keep reading
forever. It did not have a very big impact on me. But, I still really enjoyed
reading this book.
Dear Toshka
ReplyDeleteCould explain the plot in further details? Explain how her being a genius affects her everyday life?
Thanks
Daanish
Dear Toshka
ReplyDeleteWas Willow ever bullied in the book? Was she bullied because she was smart at school or outside of school in the book?
Sincerely, Hunter
Dear Toshka,
ReplyDeleteYou said that the author presented their central idea very successfully. I was wondering what that central idea was?
Thanks,
Ewan
Dear Toshka,
ReplyDeleteYou presented the novel very well. In the third paragraph you said that Counting by Sevens made you think a lot about how you would feel and what you would do differently if you were in Willows situation. I was wondering if you could explain to me what you would feel and do differently if you were in her situation.
Thank you
- Armita
Dear Toshka,
ReplyDeleteYour book review was excellent and Counting by Sevens sounds like a very interesting novel. You mentioned that Willow is constantly thinking that Dell is not the right fit for his job. In what ways did Willow believe that her guidance councillor was not doing things right, and what sort of person would Willow have liked her guidance councillor to be?
Thanks,
Olivia
