Pretty Little Liars the first
book from the series, by Sara Shepard, is a fictional novel. This novel is
about four girls named Hanna Marin, Aria Montgomery, Spencer Hasting, and Emily
Fields. Their friend Alison who lives in Rosewood Pennsylvania went missing a
couple of summers ago who lives in
Rosewood Pennsylvania. All the girls have very big secrets that no one can know
about. During the novel there is an anonymous person who starts texting
messages saying that she knows their secrets and black mailing the four girls
and she or he names itself “A”.The weird thing is that all the secrets “A”
knows about, Alison knew about. The conflict in the novel is between “A” and
the four girls.
In
the novels all the girls keep having these small secrets but then they always
seem to get bigger and bigger, and sometime the truth comes out. For years the
four girls lives were fine but then the “Jenna thing” (Alison made her blind)
happened, Aria’s dad had an affair with
another girl (Her mom doesn’t know). Emily starting to see who she really
is(While her parents freak out that she is gay).Spencer ruining her
sister’s life by taking her fiancé. [by
accident] , etc. (It is a series of books so there isn’t really a conclusion or
solution) In the novel some character become really attached but other become
detached. The story shows how the girls always stick together and never leave
each others side, they stick up for each other, and you can see they have a
special relationship.
The author writes
with great detail, she explains everything we should know about the characters
from how they look to how they are feeling. In the story it feels like you are
in the book because you get into the feelings and it feels like you are four
different people at the same time having the bad problems. They way the author
wrote this novel, feels like it’s a real story. The author teaches you a good
lesson to learn in this book of how not lying is very important and to tell the
truth (if it is something really important), she shows how it can lead to anger,
family issues, breaking friendships, etc. It is a story of four teenage girls
with big secrets who are being stalked by an anonymous texted named “A”. For me
the experience of reading this book made me think of not to lie to people and
think of the things I’m going to say before I speak
Dear Angelina,
ReplyDeleteYou made this book sound so intreging and i really enjoyed reading your review. You mentioned Hanna Mari but didn't elaborate on her that much i was wondering what some of her traits and how she played into this novel.
Sincerely
Zac
Dear Zac
ReplyDeleteHanna is one of the main characters in this book, she has long brown hair and wears very stylish outfits. Some traits that she has is how she is stubborn, for example, Hanna always ask for things (clothing, phones, etc) she doesn't stop asking until she get what she wants. Hanna is also very proud of what she looks like now a days. That is because one of her biggest secrets, but she got a makeover with "loser Mona”(Who is now very stylish, and some what popular), and now they are best friends. One of her roles in this book is that she was friends with Alison, and all of Alison's friends started to get texts from "A". Hanna has a secret that she doesn't like to talk about, because she is embarrassed, and "A" blackmails her saying that she could tell people.
Sincerely,
Angelina
Hello Angelina,
ReplyDeleteYour book review was very interesting and had of detail. At one point you said that the book seams like a real story, is there a reason why you thought this from the story.
Yours truly, Sam
Dear Sam,
ReplyDeleteI said that this book felt like it was a real story because of the way Sara (the author) wrote this book and the events that happened . I thought it felt like a real story because how Sara explained how the characters were feeling in great detail and what they were thinking, it felt like you knew the characters as a friend. So many events in this book is like a real world problems; cheating on someone, being gay, etc. and the book shows how people see it in different perspectives. Overall the story just felt like it wasn’t fiction it felt like it was a true story (non fiction). That is why I thought this story was so much like a real story.
Sincerely,
Angelina
Dear Angelina,
ReplyDeleteVery interesting novel choice. I enjoyed every second of your mysterious
review. You mentioned that the four girls had secretes that started small and grew until the point where the truth came out. what kind of conflict did these secretes create when people found out and where all the secrets necessarily bad. Great book review.
Sincerely, Kaia
Dear Angelina,
ReplyDeleteWhich one is your most and least favourite liar and why?
Sincerely,
Simran Singh
Dear Kaia,
ReplyDeleteI think the conflict that happened when their secrets came out were mostly character vs character because usual one person got mad at one of the girls or someone else, or one of the girls got mad at someone. For example; When the secret came out that Spencer kissed her sister’s (Melissa) fiancé Melissa got really mad at both her fiancé and sister, also when Aria’s mother finds out that her father was cheating on her she got mad at him and got a divorce. All the secrets where bad because all the secrets where bad, but the only good thing that I think was good thing about the secrets coming out was that everyone knew the truth and I think it’s better to know the truth, but a lot of people got hurt when it did.
Sincerely,
Angelina
Dear Simran,
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I like all the liars, but if I had to chose one I would probably chose Emily as my favourite because, she is very nice, sweet, caring, and respects people. Also in the last few chapters she really shows who she really is, and I think that is really important to be who you are. My least favourite liar would probably be Spencer because her secret was one of the worst because she actually did it ( She was the one who kissed her sister’s fiancé ) and she is a little too competitive in my opinion, but she is still a nice person. Overall I don’t really dislike any of the liars.
Yours Truly,
Angelina
Dear Angelina,
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned that in this series of books there isn’t really a conclusion or solution. If you were told to write a conclusion what would it be? why?
Thanks, Kiersten
