The Abduction by Theodore Boone - Reviewed by Jordy Auger

A mysterious abduction during the night while a girl who happened to be home alone was held helpless. The abduction of April Finnemore took place sometime between 9:30PM and 3:30AM. The next day everyone in the town of Strattenburg had heard and was very concerned for the young 13-year-old girl. Her best friend Theo has experience with the law. He searched the city for her or some clues. 

  Theo’s parents are both lawyers. April’s parents were not responsible and they both have criminal records, her parents often leave her home alone. Everyone in town knew about her weird and different family. There was a rumour going around that they found a suspect. His name was Jack Leeper, he recently broke out of a California prison and he was spotted at a local convenience store. They discovered that April was his pen pal when he was in California. They thought that that was obvious that he was responsible for the abduction. Jack pretended he knew where she was so he could try to make a deal for example he doesn’t have to stay at the California prison (because he did not like it). Theo told his uncle Ike about the situation because he has many friends who do things that are illegal so he gets inside information. 

 Ike was a lawyer until he did some illegal things. Ike had a thought that maybe April’s dad who was never around because he was in a band with a bunch of old guys who are drug addicts and criminals. Nobody else in town thought it was Aprils’ dad. 

 I think there was too much information on the little things and lot enough on the big things. The ending should have been more interesting for example after the kidnapper (not saying who) did not even get sent to prison and get sued or even any real punishment. I got very excited about the ending but then I turned out to be disappointed when I read it. They barely talked about the mom. They should have introduced more characters. 

 This book had a very interesting subject but they could and should have made it more interesting and with more detail. Although the book was very exciting while I was reading it and I tried to predict what would happen. I would not recommend this book because it lacks a lot of detail, even though it was a good overall story.

      I briefly described the setting so here is some more information. It is a small town, low populated. It is quiet boring meaning it doesn't have much news so when there was this news everyone in town went crazy.

    After reading this book, I realized that everyone needs to be a little more sympathetic and not to judge a book by its cover (everyone thought the kidnapper was one guy who looked like a kidnapper, but it turned he was innocent).

    After reading this book I realized that you can't judge a book by its cover, everyone though the knapper was someone who looked like a kidnapper but he turned out to be innocent.

    In your second last paragraph you mentioned the prisoner, and "a" mom, I'm guessing this is the kidnapper's mom, this is the first time you mention her, what role does she have in the novel?

    By the mom I meant April's mom. She was barely talked about and she was always ''out'' somewhere in town. She was a drug addict.
