The Escape Reviewed By Samuel Olivier Benloulou
The Escape is the first
book of a series of spy novels written by Robert Muchamore. The story happens
in France during World War II at a time when the Nazi where invading and
forcing the civilians to flee. The story is about two German children who are
tracked by Germans soldiers and about a British spy Charles Henderson who is
trying to reached them before the German can. Marc a thirteen-year-old orphan
who fled teams up with Charles Henderson in the search of the 2 German children
and their father. They need to find them before the Nazis do because they are
in possession of very important documents. The father of the two Britain
children is killed during an attack leaving his two young children on their own.
The Escape is a drama and
action novel. The main theme of the book is perseverance. The perseverance was
shown when mark is stranded in Paris and he never gives up After all the
troubles the characters goes through they never give up and find their way to
safety. Marc, one of the main characters is very courageous. On his own he escaped an abusive orphanage
with an abusive leader. He took many risks and went to Paris an unknown city
for Mark. Mark went to live in a cheap hotel and got tortured by the Nazis for
information he did not know. The two others main character Paul,
eleven-year-old and Rose, thirteen-year-old are also courageous, after their
dad dies while attacked by Nazis, they continue their journey has asked by
their father. Rose was very determined and guided her brother through the
story. Paul is younger and scared. He is a little insecure but with the help of
his big sister he was able to follow. After Henderson, Marc, Rose and Paul meet
they tried to escape Paris.
The author did a very good
job explaining and showing the theme, the perseverance was shown when Mark is
stranded in Paris and does not know what to do. Mark finally gets out of Paris
with a man named Henderson. The courage was shown when Rose and Paul need to
leave their dad dead during a bombing, I know it would have been very hard to
leave their dad dead lying on the floor while a bombing which is why I shows it
to represent courage. The three characters don’t meet each other early in the
book has a matter of fact, the book follows two different stories which are at
the same place and at the same time. Henderson and Marc meet up with Rose and
Paul later in the novel. The novel is very interesting because it was during
World War II and it has a very good setting and the Author did a good job
showing detail and showing the theme

Sincerely yours
Carter Harris Fowell
Hello Carter,
DeleteSome of the problems they went through where very difficult andIi do not think me or you would of been able to make it through. One problem they went through was Being on a boat with sunk with happens at the end of the book, there was also when they where is a car and the got shot at by the Nazis and almost got wounded
Sincerely, Sam
Dear Samuel,
ReplyDeleteI am aware of the 3 children (Marc, Rosie and Paul) who are the main characters in the novel. Could you please provide me with 3 character traits for one of the characters and an example from the story that would support each trait.
Thanks
Mr. King
Dear Mr.King,
DeleteThe three characters are very interesting, but the one with stood out for me is Marc because he was an orphane and he was rated differently then normal children would. HE has many trades such as he is very brave, an example from the book is when he is held by the nazis and tortured but tries his best not too cry or show pain. another character trade is perseverance he showed it while escaping the orphanage during the attack. the last point is that he explorer he showed this when he also escapes the orphanage because he wants to have a life story.
Sincerely, Sam
Dear Sam,
ReplyDeleteThis novel is full of messages for the reader. Can you please provide me with one theme (message) you got from this novel and why you selected this particular theme.
Sincerely,
Mr. King
Answer: Dear Mr. King
DeleteThis novel has many messages; throughout the book the main message is to never give up no matter what shows up in front of you, and that any thing is possible. The characters show this while making their way through the city of Paris while being wanted by the novel. The book has a very great message because it is very well explained in the book.
Sincerely, Sam
Dear Samuel,
ReplyDeleteOne literary device used by the author Robert Muchamore is "suspense". Sam can you please provide me with one example from the novel that supports this literary device.
Thank you
Mr. King
Dear Mr. King
DeleteA part of the book that describes suspense is when the kids and Henderson drees up as Nazis and infiltrate a base to send a message to an ally. There is a lot of suspense because while in the base they get caught and run away, there is a dramatic car chase away from the base and also a battle in the base. This was probably one of the best suspense scene in the book and also one of my favorite in the whole book.
Sincerely Sam
Hi Sam,
ReplyDeleteThere are many different forms of conflict present in this novel. Can you please provide me with 2 types of conflict used by the author and an example for each. I really enjoyed your review.
Sincerely,
Mr. King
1. Dear Mr. King
DeleteThe first form of conflict is an emotional one, it happens when Roses and Paul’s father dies. Rose reacts to conflict well and says that they have to get away from the Nazis but as for Paul, he wants to stay with his father and die with him if he has too. The two characters end up escaping. The second conflict would be when Marc gets tortured by Nazis, Marc was very brave and throughout the torture ands end up only getting a tooth ripped out.
Sincerely, Sam
