Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Colfer is a spectacular fiction novel. Artemis Fowl takes place at a 12 year old’s manor; Artemis Fowl lives with his sick mom and his butler who has a little sister called Juliet. Artemis is a genius who plots into stealing a massive amount of gold from the fairies, but it will be very tricky for him.

The entire novel is about a young twelve year old boy and his big butler who try to steal gold from fairies. When Artemis Fowl kidnaps one of the fairies he tries to make an exchange with the fairies so he could get his gold. When another fairy came in, that fairy gets mad and sends in a troll to try and kill Artemis, but Artemis had it all planned out, every single step. His butler named Butler is important to this story more than you would think, his butler took out a whole team of fairies with just glasses and his massive force.

The author is clearly trying to state the fact that a twelve year old kid tricked a whole world of fairies into thinking he was dead. The thing that I find very interesting about this book is that a kid is a complete genius that defies so many laws of physics, he manages to escape a sort of incineration bomb which is basically a bomb that kills anyone in the set perimeter, but he finds a way to escape that bio-bomb. The bad thing about this book is that sometimes the scenarios don’t make sense, they did not make that much sense to me sometimes (even after rereading). I like that the fairies try so many different tactics to try and take back the kidnap victim, but Artemis Fowl defends all those tactics, by having a book that tells him everything he needs to know about the fairy race.

I would recommend this novel to everyone that likes mystery or likes fantasy or likes a novel where character really does go up against nature. I have read many novels, this one in particular is clearly the best because it’s so fascinating how the author manages to hook you with every page. I like the way he switches perspective from the fairies and Artemis Fowl. This book was better than I thought it was going to be. After reading this book I realized that Eoin Colfer is an amazing author. Since he made the main character a twelve year old, it is easy for us to relate to.
