Zombie
Elementary, a novel written by Howard Whitehouse, is a fictional novel. The
novel follows two children named Larry and Kyle, who are in the middle of a
zombie outbreak and who live in a fictional city named Acorn Falls. What starts
out as a fight for their lives turns into them both trying to fight for their
city.
The central idea in this book is
teamwork and survival and these come about when Larry and Kyle learn that there
is a zombie outbreak and they both have to work together to defeat the zombies.
Larry first realizes that there is a zombie outbreak when he sees people
turning into zombies and immediately knows he has to do something about it. Kyle and Larry have been learning about
zombies and zombie hunting by watching movies and taking notes, then they start
actually using the things they learned from the movies in real life.
The author
presented the two themes of teamwork and survival very well throughout the
book. The author presented the theme of teamwork the best when Kyle was
surrounded by zombies and Larry was able to help him out by killing all of the
zombies around him. Without Larry in this situation, Kyle would have most
definitely died. The thing that made this book very interesting is that the
author took themes that we see in every day life and was able to add zombies
into it which was very exciting. Some people may not like this book because it
has zombies or because it is too gruesome, but personally I thought it was a
very entertaining book. I think this book is very memorable because unlike most
other books this teaches about teamwork but it adds the variable of zombies
into it.
This book leaves the reader with the message that teamwork
is always going to be useful in life in any situation such as war, zombie
outbreaks, or even sports.
Dear Xristopher,
ReplyDeleteHello Xristopher, your book review was really good but, I was wondering what Larry and Kyle looked like (tall,short...) and also how did watching movies help them kill zombies.
Thanks, Nathan
Dear Nathan,
DeleteThank you for the comment. Well first of Larry was not described that much but he is in grade 4 and he also was average hight and he was also in good shape because he always bikes and plays baseball all the time. Kyle is basically the same thing, he always bikes and plays baseball, he is average hight and he is grade 4. Hopefully this helped!
Sincerely,
Xito
Dear Xristopher,
ReplyDeleteYour book review was outstanding; all your paragraphs were written with care and precision. However, you did not describe Kyle and Larry's internal traits. Can you give three internal traits and provide enough examples from the book to support the chosen traits.
Sincerely,
Kyle M.
Dear Xito,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your critical book review! In the third paragraph you said that the author expressed 2 main themes -teamwork and survival-. How did Larry and Kyle help each other in survival? Did they even help each other in survival? And finally, how did they solve the main conflict (zombie apocalypse?)?
Sincerely,
Adam
Dear Adam,
DeleteThank you for the comment. Larry and Kyle helped each other in survival by getting each other out of risky situations such as when Larry was in between a bunch of zombies and Kyle got him out. They also solved the main conflict by just killing all of the zombies. Hopefully this helped!
Sincerely,
Xito
Dear Xristopher,
ReplyDeleteYour review of this book was excellent. You mentioned within your review that "the author took themes that we see in our every day life and was able to add zombies". What does this consist of? How does the author do this?
Sincerely,
Tom M.
Dear Tom,
DeleteThank you for the comment Tom. Well the author basically does this by taking real life situations. Lets say you were in the middle of a bunch of bullies, well what the author did was replace those bullies with zombies and changed the story so it would make sense. Like maybe by saying how the zombies got there or why they are there. Hopefully this helped!
Sincerely,
Xito
Dear Xristopher,
ReplyDeleteYour review is very well thought out and is very well written. I did want to know more of the characters themselves. Were they children, why is the book called "Zombie Elementary? Is it because of what part of their lives the children are in? As well as, did the zombies impact the children's lofestyle or thoughts by any chance?
Sincerely,
Jai S. R.
Dear Jai,
DeleteThank you for the comment. Let's start of about them, they are both in grade 4 and both love to ride their bike and play baseball. The book is called "Zombie Elementary" because there is basically a zombie outbreak in a elementary school. Last the zombies didn't seem to affect there lives other that they became closer friends. Hopefully this helped.
Sincerely,
Xito
Dear Xito,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your book review, and i wondered if you could describe the characters more, Thank you,
Abdel
Dear Abdel,
DeleteWell lets start of with Larry. Larry loves to ride his bike and play base ball. He is in grade 4, he very active and a healthy person and at school he also does very well. Kyle was also not much described in the book but he is in grade 4 and he is also very active and does well in school. Sorry if this was a little short, it's mostly because your questions was a little vague but I tried my best! Thank you for the comment and I hope this helped
Sincerely,
Xito
